Want perfect weather year-round? This U.S. map shows where to find it.
One county comes the closest, with 330 nice weather days per year.
What makes a perfect weather day? Ten people could easily have 10 different answers. Still, most would agree that it takes a combination of mild temperatures and minimal rain to get a climate that’s just right. But few places in the U.S. have that kind of Goldilocks weather year-round.
Yahoo News used data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to calculate the number of days in each county across the United States with nice weather, based on daily climate data from 2022 to 2024. Nice weather is defined as daily maximum temperature staying between 60°F and 85°F and rainfall remaining below 1 mm.
San Diego County in California came the closest to having four seasons of beautiful weather, logging about 330 — or about 11 months — of nice weather days per year. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Aleutians East Borough in Alaska had the fewest nice weather days in a year, just 11. People willing to compromise on rain and temperature ranges may still be able to reach their version of climate perfection outside of the California Coast though. Many counties in Florida boast warm temperatures throughout the year, but there's a rainy season from May through October. People with high heat tolerance may also enjoy Southwestern areas, like Phoenix, where half of the year can reach over 85°F, but winters are rarely cold.
