Dustin: Bill Clinton, the Democrats' choice for presidential nominee, was last president just 20 years ago. That's two decades. As president, Clinton: - Enacted welfare reform that included work requirements - Signed into law the Defense of Marriage Act, which defined marriage as being between a man and a woman - Signed into law the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which further prevented the government from regulating religion - Presided over a balanced budget, thanks partly to a decrease in government spending as a share of GDP - Publicly supported the concept of capital punishment - Signed into law three different financial deregulation bills - Privatized Sallie Mae - Increased border patrol by 35 percent, and installed hundreds of miles of fencing - Declared at his State of the Union speech that "the era of big government is over" Like I said, that was 20 years ago, which is a small blip in the overall political history of the United States. And, today, that Democrat nominee for president couldn't get nominated for much of anything inside the Democrat Party. In fact, there are freshmen in Congress who would likely see him as a "right-wing terrorist" and a white supremacist. The bottom line is that the Democrat Party has lost its way. It is being led by a group of radicals who do NOT believe in the values and principles that made the United States the most successful country in the world, and has drifted into extremism (sometimes violent) at a terrifying rate. Sadly, they do not appear to believe in democracy or civility, and seem determined to carry out their plan. My prediction is that it will not end well. It is going to get much worse, before it ever gets better.
