One family might want to rethink their home security options.
In an adorable TikTok clip, Aera the German Shepherd comes down a flight of stairs and seems downright afraid of the "intruders" on the other side of the room!
What's scaring this dog, whose breed is known for being expert watchdogs? Balloons!
“Here is my big, scary German Shepherd,” the gorgeous gal’s pet mamma notes. “We’re screwed if we ever have any intruders.”
Viewers can’t get enough of this girl and shared a lot of similar experiences, as well as their thoughts on unusual dog fears.
“My big, scary German Shepherd is the same way,” said a fan.
“I’ll never understand dogs in general having an irrational fear of inanimate objects,” added another. “Still hilarious though.”

Hey, everyone has irrational fears! Some people are terrified of clowns. Others freeze at the sight of a spider. Personally, I’m terrified of birds, so on some level, I get why Aera is a little spooked by these strange flying things.

Why Are Some Dogs Afraid of Balloons?
Everyone can get set off by one thing or another. As for balloons sparking fear in dogs, it may be that pooches are afraid of the balloons’ unpredictable movements, or their strong rubbery smell and strange texture.
Whatever the reason, it sure is cute to watch this gal’s cautious approach to the balloons. First, she hesitates on the steps as she notices the odd blue orbs in the kitchen.

Prompted by her mamma to come to her, this sweetie pie glides down the stairs, while at the same time, keeping a close eye on those pesky balloons. She barks as a warning to the unknown floating objects, then retreats back to the stairs, barking again as if she’s saying, “I want no part of those freaky things!”
Maybe Aera needs to get outside to collect herself after this traumatic experience. Looking at her TikTok page @aera.the.gsd, it seems like a trip to the beach or the mountains could be just what the doctor, err pet psychiatrist, ordered!
This girl is just the cutest. I can’t wait to see her upcoming adventures and hope no one brings her balloons for her next birthday!
