This Frozen Pizza Is So Good I Ate It Three Nights In A Row
Don't judge me.
Caitlin Bensel, Food Stylist: Torie Cox
Sometimes only a frozen pizza will do. It's for those days when I can’t wait for delivery, and I sure as heck won’t be making pizza from scratch. It's my back-up plan that I always keep stocked next to my emergency ice cream stash. Usually frozen pizza is just fine, but nothing memorable. However, after a sale at Publix pushed me to try a new brand, I realized there are much more delicious options out there. Enter Screamin' Sicilian frozen pizzas.
What Makes This Pizza So Good
Screamin' Sicilian frozen pizzas will often run you a few dollars more than other brands in the freezer aisle, but it’s money well spent (and Publix, as noted up top, often puts them on sale). Look for the package with the illustrated mustache, and a clear window in the box giving you a glimpse into what awaits inside.
I’m partial to the 'Supremus Maximus' pizza, which features lots of mozzarella cheese topped with Italian sausage, pepperoni, green and red peppers, onions, and olives. Unlike other brands, Screamin' Sicilian doesn’t skimp on the toppings. If you go with the pepperoni variety, you’ll find it loaded with discs of pepperoni covering every inch of the pie.
I also like that the tomato sauce base isn’t too sweet, and the crust bakes up fluffy. I’m not saying this pizza would fool anyone into thinking it was homemade, but that’s also not the point. It delivers a great version of a frozen pizza, so much so, during a particularly busy week, I ate it multiple nights in a row.

Screamin' Sicilian 'Supremus Maximus' frozen pizzaHow To Dress It Up
Even when a frozen pizza is good, a few homemade touches can make it even better. Depending on how much effort I want to put into it that can mean anything from finishing it with freshly grated Parmesan right before serving, to drizzling it with a pesto thrown together while it bakes. Here are some of my go-to upgrades:
Fresh herbs: They work miracles. A few basil leaves make the whole thing feel brighter and fresher. Parsley also works, or if you happen to have it, oregano leaves.
More cheese: As mentioned, Parmesan can help take a frozen pizza to the next level, but so can dollops of whole-milk ricotta, or tearing up some burrata over top (which you can find at an affordable price at most Trader Joe’s locations).
Some greens: Baby spinach, kale, or some peppery arugula can add a lot of flavor and color (not to mention a little extra nutrition) to any frozen pie.
Turn up the heat: I’m not just talking red pepper flakes, although they're a classic choice. Chopped Calabrian chili peppers, fresh, thinly sliced jalapeño, or a drizzle of chili crisp can all add tons of flavor to an otherwise lackluster dinner. For a touch of sweetness too, add some hot honey over top.
