Wicked: For Good Trailer at CinemaCon Shows First Look at Dorothy & a Wedding

The first trailer for Wicked: For Good was shown at CinemaCon.

Wicked: For Good is the forthcoming sequel to Wicked, which was released in November 2024. The movie adapts the second half of the popular Broadway musical by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman. It sees Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo reprise their respective roles as Glinda and Elphaba Thropp.

CinemcaCon attendees got to see the first Wicked: For Good footage during Universal Pictures’ presentation on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. The trailer has not yet been shared online, meaning that only those who were present at the CinemaCon presentation have been able to see it at this time.

What happens in the Wicked: For Good CinemaCon trailer?

The Hollywood Reporter‘s description of the trailer reads, “[It includes] the first look at Dorothy, albeit without showing her face, and there was also golden bricks, a wedding, and flying monkeys galore. In the second film, the two witches deal with the consequences of the choices they made. The footage suggests their deep and abiding friendship is far from over, and shows Glinda warning her.”

The second act of the Wicked musical includes a very public engagement for Fiyero Tigelaar (Jonathan Bailey) and Glinda; although, the two ultimately don’t end up getting married. Dorothy also factors into the story as much of what happens overlaps with the events of The Wizard of Oz.

The first poster for Wicked: For Good was also spotted at CinemaCon earlier this week.

Wicked: For Good is once again directed by Jon M. Chu, who helmed the first movie, 2018’s Crazy Rich Asians, and several other films. In addition to Erivo, Grande, and Bailey, the cast of the movie includes Ethan Slater as Boq Woodsman, Marissa Bode as Nessarose Thropp, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Jeff Goldblum as The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and Bowen Yang as Pfannee.

Wicked: For Good will be released in United States theaters on November 1, 2025.
