Scarlett Johansson Had a Visceral Reaction to Colin Jost's Explicit Jokes About Her on Saturday Night Live

Colin Jost might live to regret his latest “joke swap” with Michael Che on Saturday Night Live.
On December 21, Scarlett Johansson spent the evening watching her husband make jokes at her expense, as part of a “Weekend Update” tradition. During these joke swaps, the co-hosts read jokes written by the other without prior notice or approval. “I know Michael is going to make me tell some racist jokes, like he always does,” Jost prepped the audience, though he should have also expected Che to pen multiple bits about his famous wife.
“I want to dedicate this next joke to my boo, Scarlett Johansson,” Jost reads off the prompter before cameras switch over to the Marvel actor, who was watching the broadcast outside the studio. “She's so genuinely worried,” he noted. Hmm…I wonder why?
“Hey, boo. Y'all know Scarlett just celebrated her 40th birthday, which means I'm about to get up out of there,” Jost begrudgingly began. “No, I'm just playin'. We just had a kid together, and y'all ain't see no pictures of him yet cause he Black as hell.”
Johansson and Jost have been married since 2020 and welcomed their son, Cosmo, in 2021. The Black Widow star also shares a 10-year-old daughter, Rose Dorothy, with ex-husband Romain Dauriac.
While that first joke elicited a few head shakes and an “oh shit” from Johansson, it paled in comparison to Jost's next bit. Honestly, I don't even feel comfortable typing out the series of jokes, which involved roast beef sandwiches and oral sex…Just know that this was Johansson's immediate reaction:
“Oh my god!” Johansson exclaimed, before seeming to add, “Holy shit!”
Without a doubt, Saturday Night Live had a huge impact on Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost's relationship. “I just want to say that this place means so much to me," she said during her sixth hosting gig in 2019. “I have so many friends here, and I met the love of my life here.”
However, while comedian and actor met during one of her hosting gigs in 2006 or 2010 (depending on which of them you ask), they didn't start dating until 2017. During an appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show in 2018, Che joked that Jost “changed” since he started going out with Johansson.
“I feel like, you’ve changed, you don’t invite me places," Che said. “And when you do, you ditch me.” When Jost pointed out that Che doesn't invite him “anywhere” either, Che replied, “Well, yeah, because if you’re with, like, Scarlett Johansson, I don’t want to tell you to come to this dive bar with me and watch a Yankee game. I feel like, you know, maybe you have better things to do.”
Perhaps this latest joke swap was Che's attempt to fix that. You can watch for yourself here:
