CBS—the network behind hit reality competitions like Survivor, Big Brother and The Amazing Race—had viewers on the edge of their seats (myself included) this week as fans across the country eagerly awaited the reveal of The Amazing Race Season 37 winner. Not only was this the largest number of teams the show has seen since airing in 2001, but it also had the most twists and turns, including a live double U-turn, a fast forward, the return of the express pass and more. And the fight for the $1 million prize was closer than ever. But who won The Amazing Race in 2025? Discover all the details from the finale, plus a deeper look into those who made up the first-place team.

Who won ‘The Amazing Race’?

In the penultimate episode of the show that’s described as “the race around the world,” four teams battled it out in Porto, Portugal, for a spot in the top three and the chance to win that coveted money and title.

Of the 14 teams, the four that made it to the second-to-last leg included best friends Carson McCalley and Jack Dodge, sister and brother Han and Holden Nguyen, married nurses Alyssa and Josiah Borden and married couple Jonathan and Ana Towns.

Wednesday’s episode ended on a cliffhanger with Alyssa and Josian and Jonathan and Ana neck and neck to secure that last spot. The finale on Thursday picked up immediately, and it was a close race to meet Phil at the mat. Ultimately, the married nurses were eliminated, falling just seconds behind the Towns in one of the most nail-biting finishes of the season.

Thursday’s race continued in Miami, Florida, and the last three teams were determined to get through this leg with minimal errors. But who came out on top? None other than the duo of Carson and Jack, who had previously won legs one, six, 10 and 11.

From day one of the season, Carson and Jack described themselves as nerds and professional gamers who were determined to put their strengths to the test. They also host Dweeb Wars, a podcast where they discuss Dungeons and Dragons, other role playing games and more.

The pair met when they were both just teenagers in San Diego, California. They immediately felt a platonic spark, and their friendship grew even more when they came out to each other. On the Amazing Race, viewers could feel their sense of camaraderie pretty early on, and their good spirit and positivity were enjoyable to watch throughout every episode.

While the two went their separate ways for college, they both have a strong background in social media and content creation. In addition to the podcast, they also established ‘Please Don’t Kill Us: An Interactive TTRPG (table-top role-playing game) Adventure’, a livestream game for Dungeons and Dragons.

Throughout the show, the pair performed on top and maintained their lead for most of the race, except for one leg, where they got lost and were delayed by three hours.

Both Carson and Jack seem to be in happy relationships

Carson and Jack’s friendship is strictly platonic, and both appear to be in happy partnerships of their own.

Neither has been super vocal, but Carson has been dating casting producer Alexander “Alex” James Cortinas since 2022. Jack is dating Michael Thomas Mort, the Executive Director of the Head of Innovation at JP Morgan Private Bank. He’s not in the entertainment industry like Jack, which reportedly makes their relationship work so well.

Carson and Jack haven’t explicitly shared what they will do with the $1 million, but they were sharing race tidbits on their podcast up until the finale. For the finale, they attended a live viewing party in New York City and celebrated their win with close family and friends.
