Prince George Poses in Royally Sweet Portrait for His 12th Birthday

Prince George is ringing in his latest birthday in a big way.
In honor of their eldest son turning 12, Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton unveiled a striking new portrait of George, continuing a yearslong tradition of capturing their children’s major milestones.
In a post on their Instagram page July 22, the Prince and Princess of Wales—who are also parents to Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7—shared a photo of George with his arms folded as he rests on a fence. Alongside the pic, taken by photographer Josh Sinner, they wrote, “Happy 12th Birthday to Prince George!”
Last year, George, who is second in line to the British throne behind his father, struck a dapper pose as he smiled for the camera wearing a black suit jacket paired with a white collared shirt. He personalized the classic ensemble with a braided friendship bracelet—likely accrued when he attended Taylor Swift’s concert in London weeks prior—as seen in a larger version of the snap shared on his parents’ Instagram Stories at the time.

Back in April, William and Kate, who wed in 2011, celebrated Louis’ big day in similar fashion with an updated snapshot of their youngest child. To mark the occasion, the prince—whose two front teeth had recently fallen out—flashed a grin in a dark green sweater, a plaid button down and jeans while seated on a stone surrounded by lush greenery and purple flowers.
And while photographer Josh took Louis’ portrait this year, Kate—who typically takes her kids’ birthday photos herself—proved her love for the art is alive and well as she handled her daughter’s most recent birthday shoot in May. In the heartwarming image, Charlotte beamed as she posed on a grassy hill wearing a camo-colored jacket with her blonde hair tied in a ponytail.
