Nicolas Cage has a pretty good idea as to why his relationship with Sarah Jessica Parker didn’t last long.

The Longlegs actor, 61, admitted that he likely bombed his first impression when he met the Sex and the City star’s mother in the late ‘90s, in a statement to E! News on Monday, July 14.

"I cared about Sarah, but I don't think I passed the Mom test," Cage told the outlet. "I recall sitting down with her and her mother for dinner at the Russian Tea Room, and I don't know if it was my blue Vanson Leather motorcycle jacket (which I still have) or my sinusitis, but I didn't hear from her again."

His confession came after Parker, 60, revealed on the Sunday, July 13, episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that she and the National Treasure movie star dated around the time of their 1992 romantic comedy Honeymoon in Vegas — which featured a cameo from a young Bruno Mars as an Elvis Presley impersonator.

"Did you date Nic Cage?" Cohen, 57, asked his guest point-blank.

"Um, yes, I did," she answered. "Yes, I did."

"Oh, wow," Cohen, who happens to be best friends with the actress, replied. "Oh, we got some talking to do."

Cage has been married five times, most recently marrying Riko Shibata in a private Las Vegas ceremony in 2021.

The actor, whose real name is Nicolas Kim Coppola, is a father to three children: sons Weston Cage Coppola, 34, whom he shares with actress Christina Fulton; Kal-El Coppola, 19, whom he shares with Alice Kim; and daughter August Francesca Coppola Cage, whom he welcomed with Shibata on Sept. 7, 2022.

Parker has been married to Matthew Broderick since 1997 after having their first date in 1992. They share three children together.

During her WWHL appearance, she told Cohen how she knew the Ferris Bueller's Day Off star, 63, was the person she wanted to spend her life with.

"I just knew he was incredible," the Hocus Pocus star said of Broderick after "spending a little bit of time with him," adding that she knew he was for her "probably pretty early."

She was also first to say "I love you" in their relationship.

"Nothing to lose, you know what I mean?" Parker confessed of the romantic milestone.

The Inspector Gadget star previously appeared on WWHL where he gushed about his wife of more than 30 years.

"Oh, the first time I met her," he began telling Cohen on an April 2022 episode of the show. "I saw her walking down the street and thought, 'That's it.' "

During the same interview, he said he admires Parker the most for her "humor and wisdom."
