Denise Richards’ Husband Aaron Phypers Files for Divorce

Denise Richards and Aaron Phypers are entering a new chapter.

The Wild Things actress' husband of six years filed for divorce in Los Angeles on July 7, according to court documents obtained by E! News.

In the legal paperwork, Aaron listed the reason for their split as "irreconcilable differences" and noted the date of the separation was July 4 (a.k.a. Independence Day).

Aaron is also asking the court to award him spousal support in the divorce.

E! News has reached out to Denise and Aaron for comment but has not heard back. TMZ was first to break the news.

The filing comes several months after Denise's oldest daughter Sami Sheen—who she shares with ex Charlie Sheen—hinted at trouble in the blended family.

"We're not even that close," the 21-year-old revealed of Aaron on the Casual Chaos with Gia Giudice podcast April 13. "We don't ever hang out, we never talk."

However, Sami noted she still supported her mom's relationship since "he makes her happy."

One month prior, Denise—who is also mom to her and Charlie's daughter Lola Sheen, 20, as well as adopted daughter Eloise Richards, 14—gushed about what made her and Aaron's relationship work before the breakup.

"We like being with each other," the 54-year-old—who tied the knot with the entrepreneur in 2018—told Bravo's The Daily Dish in March. "He's my best friend, too, and we just really enjoy each other’s company."

One month prior, Denise—who is also mom to her and Charlie's daughter Lola Sheen, 20, as well as adopted daughter Eloise Richards, 14—gushed about what made her and Aaron's relationship work before the breakup.

"We like being with each other," the 54-year-old—who tied the knot with the entrepreneur in 2018—told Bravo's The Daily Dish in March. "He's my best friend, too, and we just really enjoy each other’s company."

"I tell every couple, especially with kids," the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum continued, "if you could just do one night, at least a month, where you have a staycation where you can shut down and be with just each other, I think that helps so much with marriages or couples who have children."

Denise also credited quality time together as a reason for their enduring love.

"It’s just nice to have that time with each other and romance and reconnect," she said. "Not that you can’t do that at home, but with home, sometimes, there’s a lot of distraction. That’s something that we’ve always been really good at doing is to have, even though our older girls are older and Eloise is 13, they still always need mom and want mom and dad."
