Anne Burrell's Husband Made Heartbreaking Discovery

A new report says that Anne Burrell's husband Stuart Claxton made the heartbreaking discovery that his wife was unresponsive in their home.

TMZ shared a sad detail on June 18 that wasn't previously reported: Claxton discovered his 55-year-old wife dead in the shower.

The Food Network star's husband "was the person who found her unresponsive and lying on the floor of their shower," TMZ reported.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Claxton had last seen Burrell at 1 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17. He found her unresponsive six to seven hours later, TMZ reported, adding that the 911 call he made indicates a belief that Burrell died of cardiac arrest.

However, a medical examiner will determine the final cause of death. TMZ is reporting that "a large quantity of" unknown pills were found around where Burrell died, although it's not clear whether they had any link to her death at all.

The 911 operator suggested that Burrell's husband perform CPR, but her body was cold, and it's not clear whether he tried, TMZ added.

Burrell's Food Network colleagues have been offering moving tributes to her, including Bobby Flay, Robert Irvine, Sandra Lee, and Rachael Ray.

"The news about Anne has truly shaken us. John and I are heartbroken. I can’t quite believe it — such a strong, vibrant, fearless woman, so full of life and love, could be gone so soon," Ray wrote.

Ray wrote that she served as Burrell's bridesmaid when she married Claxton in 2021.

"Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend — her smile lit up every room she entered,” Burrell’s family told Us Weekly in a statement. “Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.”

Burrell was also survived by a stepson, Javier Claxton, and other relatives.
